George J. Kochis, Jr., age 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at home with family by his side. He was born on September 4, 1938, in Larksville, Pennsylvania to George and Sophie Kochis. He was married to Anntoinette M. (Yanovitch) Kochis, who predeceased him. George left the Larksville area and moved to Washington, D.C. with his wife and daughters in 1963, where he joined the Metropolitan Police Department. He loved being a police officer and would regale everyone with colorful accounts of his career. He believed a large part of his responsibility, as an officer, was to the community and because of that he had many friends. He treated everyone with the same respect and dignity, regardless of who they were or how they were different from him. He retired from the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department as a Sergeant and moved to Kingston, Pa.

He is survived by his daughters, Kara A. (Kent) Sisson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Michelle S. Krause (Keith) of Frederick, Maryland. His third daughter Teresa “Lynn” Kochis predeceased him in December 2020. He has five grandsons: Adam (Megan) Sisson; Andrew Sisson; Nicholas (Paulo) Krause; Jonathan Krause; and Samuel Krause. He also has two great-grandchildren: Holden Kent Sisson and Hollis Rose Sisson of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is survived by two brothers Joseph (Carol) Kochis of Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania and John (Joanne) Kochis of Mebane, North Carolina. His sister Jacqueline (Thomas) Kormis of Plymouth, Pennsylvania
predeceased him.

Mass will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 10:15 AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, Pa. Interment will follow immediately after mass at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman Twp., Pa. Arrangements are entrusted to the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
