Mary Baigis, age 89 of Wilkes Barre, passed away June 28, 2010 at the Little Flower Manor, Wilkes Barre. Born, May 18, 1921 in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Roman and Adelia Bushko Truskowski.

Mary was a member of St. Francis Church, Nanticoke. She and her husband, Alvin Sr., we the owners and operators of Al’s Grocery Store, Newport Township. She was also a member of the Bloomingdale Quilters.

Throughout her life, she greatly enjoyed to cook and bake and to work on arts and crafts. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, Alvin Sr.; granddaughter, Michalene Gomez; brothers, Anthony, Edward and Joseph Truskowski and sister, Lillian Lohoski.

Surviving are her children, Alvin Baigis Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Shavertown, Maryann Ruda and her husband, John of Hunlock Creek, Janice Gomez and her husband, Arthur of Mountain Top and Theresa Rakshys and her husband, James of Plains; grandchildren, Sean Baigis, Christina Woronko and her husband, William, Debra Yanchus and her husband, Frank, Mary Ruda, Janet Archer and her husband, Brian, David Gomez and his wife, Kristin, Jim J. Rakshys and his wife, Marci and Michelle Rakshys; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred Truskowski of Palatka, Florida, Chester Truskowski and his wife, Dolores of Edison, N.J., Thomas Truskowski and his wife, Nancy of Mount Sterling, Kentucky and John Truskowski and his wife, Carol of Clearwater, Florida; sister, Adeline Yudisky and her husband, Joseph of Plains.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday morning at 9:00 in Little Flower Manor Chapel, 200 South Meade Street, Wilkes Barre. Interment will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Muhlenburg.

Friends may call Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth and Thursday morning from 8:00 to funeral time at 9:00 in Little Flower Manor Chapel, Wilkes Barre.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Flower Manor, Wilkes Barre.
