Manuel Alcalde, age 93, of Bensalem, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Jefferson Methodist Hospice, Philadelphia.

Born October 24, 1929, in Burgos, Spain, he was the son of the late Julio Alcalde and Claudia Illera Alcalde. He was a graduate of the University of Madrid, where he received his bachelor's degree. He also received several Master's degrees in Philosophy and Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Zulia, Venezuela, and Laval University, Quebec City, Canada. He was a long time community college professor of Spanish at Cégep Limoilou.

Manuel enjoyed spending time with his family, watching soccer, keeping up on current events and going on walks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Alcalde; and brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, the former Alice Bakun; son, Raphael Alex Alcalde (Gwen), of Avon, Indiana; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Emma and Elizabeth Alcalde; sister, Carmen Alcalde, Spain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to meet for mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Hanover Twp. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Muhlenberg.

Arrangements are entrusted to the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
