Marian T. Ropel, age 72, of Trucksville, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.

Born March 8, 1951, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Walter Hoynowski and Marian Stopa Hoynowski. Marian was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Misericordia University where she received her degrees in nursing and education, and Marywood University where she received her Masters Degree. Marian was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a school nurse for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

Marian enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and she enjoyed attending their many activities. Marian had a great love for animals, especially her dogs and cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Ropel, and her sister, Carol Kowalski.

Surviving are her loving children, Mike Marranca (Liz), of Fanwood, NJ, Anna Bayer (Mike), of Dallas, and Timothy Ropel, of Benton; grandchildren, Joe, Nick and James Marranca, and Gavin and Kouper Bayer; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made in Marian’s memory to the Luzerne County SPCA.
