John (Jack) Bagi
Saturday, June 7, 2025
John (Jack) Bagi, age 77, of Larksville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born March 5, 1948 in Larksville, he was the son of the late Joseph G. Bagi and Helen Spock Bagi. Jack was a graduate of Larksville High School, Class of 1966, and had been a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth. He was a veteran serving with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Never sitting for a moment, Jack began his mechanical career at a young age owning and operating an auto mechanic shop in Larksville. Over the next several decades, a few companies have had the privilege of his employment, knowledge and skills including Roth American and Owens-Illinois, where he continued employment for 15 years as it became Techneglas. Ultimately Jack retired from his job as a Diesel Mechanic at Waste Management in his 70’s only to then look for something else to keep him busy. He found a position as a Maintenance Mechanic at Romark Logistics where he worked until 2021.

Between whatever full-time job Jack had at the time, he was always taking phone calls to help anyone in need. A true jack of all trades, he had a remarkable talent for fixing everything and was always offering a helping hand to family and friends. He had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in hunting, fishing, and exploring what the area has to offer. Never missing a day of work, he spent every scheduled day off asking us where we want to go and what we want to do. Often times he would work a full day of work, drive home, get everyone back in the car and drive us out to Knoebels just to get an ice cream and french fries. Throughout his life, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his wife, parents, children, and most especially his grandchildren. His family was the center of his world. Little did he know he was the center of ours. A man of many talents, he brought joy to every family event with his jokes, musical instruments, or latest creation that he just fixed or built. He never sat in a chair if he saw there was someone else standing, and he never ate a bite of food until everyone had a full plate in front of them. Jack is the definition of a true good hearted man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Bagi.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Deborah Maslowski, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years. He is also survived by his children, Jackie Lynn McDonald (Barry Petty), of Grove City, Ohio, Edward Whitesell (Kimberly), of Larksville, Raymond Whitesell (Kate Kamp), of Keithville, Louisiana, and Melissa Bagi (Christopher Plaviak), of Shavertown; grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Katlyn, Derek, Sara, Gavin, Jillian and Jake; great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Rileigh and Beckett; uncle, Steven Spock; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral and military service will be held on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home.
