Gary Lucas, age 56, of Shavertown, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 5, 1969 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Allen Lucas and Karen Callahan Lucas. He was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1987.

Gary was employed by Sordoni Construction as a foreman for many years.

He was a true outdoorsman at heart, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He found happiness in every moment spent outdoors. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, always cheering on his favorite team.

More than anything, what brought Gary the greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends. His legacy is one of love, laughter and the deep connections he built with those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Shawn Lucas, and his sister, Angela Dougalas.

Surviving are his loving wife of 32 years, the former Vicki S. Temple; son, Dylan Lucas, of Swoyersville; brother, Mark Callahan (Angie), of Sweet Valley; sister, Tammy Levandowski (Eric), of Benton; aunt, Rachel Stasukinas; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Mike Castner.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 30, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth.
