It is with heartrending sorrow and deep regret that we announce the passing of Margaret Emma Duda née Orth on November 2, 2025. Born on June 14, 1935 in Pittston, PA to Louis J. and Alice T. Orth (née Hennigan), Margaret was married to the late Leonard J. Duda (Oct 1934 - Aug 2024) on May 4, 1957. Together the couple enjoyed 67 years of marriage in Leonard’s family home in Plymouth, PA, where they created a loving and respected family. Margaret, Peggy to most and Maggie or Mags only to her husband, enjoyed a deep commitment and dedication to her family and was a second mom to many of her sons’ friends throughout her life. Though she didn’t always understand the game, she was an unwavering supporter of her sons’ careers in football (as well as other pursuits, interests, and antics) and would often load the car with friends and family for road trips to Villanova, Maryland, and beyond.
A member of All Saints Parish in Plymouth, PA, Margaret was a dedicated parishioner and found strength and comfort in her faith. She enjoyed creating and maintaining a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends and was a longtime seamstress both for Leslie Fay Company and her family.
The eldest of nine children, Margaret was known for her loving and humble nature. She was preceded in death by siblings Louis (Ducky), Mary Alice, Robert, Elizabeth, Dorothy, and Carol and is survived by Sarah (Sally) and Denise. She is also survived by her son’s and their families: Stephen and wife, Laura, her daughter, K’Sandre, and great-granddaughter, Rhaidyn; Mark and wife, Denise, their daughter, Taylor, and husband Casie Holman. She is also survived by her late husband’s youngest brother, Bernard (Butch), who was raised in her home, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ksiaskiewicz, and several nieces and nephews.
A private service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, November 7. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Nativity Cemetery in Plymouth, PA alongside her beloved husband.
Arrangements are entrusted to the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
