Robert D. Sheldon, age 94, of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Allied Meade Street Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre. 

Born April 28, 1931, in South Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Charles (Slashinski) Sheldon and Jennie (Jean) Booth Sheldon Martin. After graduation from high school, Robert joined the United States Navy retiring after 20 years of service. He then enlisted with the United States Marines. 

He was a member of the American Legion, Swoyersville Post 644.

Robert was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Antoinette Koslowski Sheldon, who passed away on February 23, 2022, a daughter, Carol Kobusky and a brother, Bill Sheldon. 

Surviving are two grandsons, Bryan Kobusky and his wife, Nicole, of Mountaintop, Jason Kobusky and Lori Shonk, of Luzerne; great grandchildren, Owen Kobusky, Ethan Kobusky, Makayla Kobusky, Michaela Shonk and Kaylee Shonk; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral and military services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Dallas. Interment will follow.

Arrangements were entrusted to the S. J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
