Stephen P. Moss, age 70, of Shavertown, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on February 20, 1956, in Plymouth, Steve was the beloved son of Mary (Bogdon) Moss and a devoted brother to Michael Moss, whom he is now reunited with in eternal peace.
Steve was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1975. He was the owner and operator of Steve Moss Collision in Plymouth for decades, where he was well known and respected not only for his craftsmanship, but also for the lasting friendships he built with his customers. He proudly oversaw his son Stephen take over the business and enjoyed giving him advice. He took pride in helping his daughter remodel her home and was skilled enough to walk his son Patrick through changing a car battery in California by phone.
Steve was a true jokester with a heart of gold. His playful spirit and infectious sense of humor could brighten anyone’s day. He welcomed strangers as friends and had a natural ability to make everyone feel at ease. An avid animal lover, Steve cared deeply for animals, especially strays, always showing compassion and kindness to those in need.
He found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and mushroom picking. Steve also had a deep love of music and enjoyed attending concerts. He cherished the time he spent traveling, including memorable trips to Ricketts Glen, Knoebels, Disney, Seaside Heights, and Atlantic City, which he especially enjoyed with his wife, Mary Beth. Steve also enjoyed watching crime shows. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who made his blue eyes sparkle, and dear friends, which brought him the
greatest happiness in life.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, the former Mary Beth Lombardo; his children, Lori Yanchick (TJ) of Mountaintop, Stephen Moss (Samantha) of Hanover Township, and Patrick Moss of Sacramento, CA; his grandchildren, Jax, Alivia, Leona, and Lucille; his “favorite” sister, Cheryl Janicki of Chalfont, PA; his brothers, Jeffrey Moss (Lori) of Apex, NC and James Moss (Joanne) of Monroe, NJ; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made in Steve’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Steve’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all involved in his healthcare for their kindness and compassion. They are also deeply grateful to Steve’s dear longtime friends and many customers for their kindness, support, and thoughtfulness.
