Bernice G. Scavone, age 85, of Wilkes Barre, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Mercy Center, Dallas. Born March 28, 1926 in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Bytosh Elko.
Bernice was a graduate of Larksville High School and had been a devoted member of St. Patrick's Church of Wilkes Barre. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the R.C.A. Corporation in Mountain Top, for 27 years.
She had been an active member of both the R.C.A. Club and Senior Citizen's Club of Plymouth.
She was an avid sports watcher and a die-hard New York Yankees fan to the end. She enjoyed trips with her late husband, Patrick to New York City, the Jersey shore and Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Scavone, who died on December 9, 1987; sister, Emma E. Williams of Plymouth and brother, George Elko of Larksville.
Surviving are her close relatives, Bonnie Kalish and her husband, Bill of Monroe Township and Lewis Williams and his wife, Nita of Forty Fort, as well as, several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in the Mercy Center Chapel in Dallas. Entombment will immediately follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Friday morning from 8:45 until funeral time at 9:30 in the Mercy Center Chapel, Dallas.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made to the Mercy Center on Lake Street in Dallas.
