Alice C. Alcalde, age 83, of Avon, IN, formerly of Bensalem, Pa., passed into the Hands of the Lord, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Born October 25,1942 in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Bakun and Minerva Romanowski Bakun.

Alice was a graduate of Hanover Twp. Memorial High School, Class of 1960, Misericordia College, Class of 1964, where she received her Bachelors of Arts, and Middlebury College, Class of 1970, where she received Master of Liberal Arts.

Prior to her retirement, Alice was a high school Spanish and English teacher the Wyoming Valley West and Philadelphia school districts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Alcalde, who passed away on February 20, 2023; her daughter, Rebecca Alcalde; and sisters, Eleanor Lea and Joan Lavery.

Surviving are her son, Raphael (Alex) Alcalde and his wife, Gwen, Avon, IN; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Emma and Elizabeth Alcalde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes Barre, on Tuesday, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Muhlenburg.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until mass time at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish.
